Takeo Rivera
Takeo Rivera is assistant professor of English at Boston University, where he is also joint appointed in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and affiliated with African American Studies. His current book project, Model Minority Masochism: Asian American Masculinity and the Perversities of Racial Form, focuses on Asian American cultural production, techno-orientalism, performance, and sexuality studies across a range of media including theater, fiction, video games, graphic novels, and documentary film. His articles have been published in AmerAsia Journal, Performance Research, the Routledge Companion to Asian American Media, and the Handbook of Cultural Politics in Education. He is also an award-winning playwright whose work has been staged in New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Los Angeles. Prior to attaining his PhD, Rivera worked as a rape crisis advocate, counselor, and educator in San Jose, CA
