**"From Selma to Ferguson: Civil Rights, Black Power, and Racial Tension in the Age of Obama and Black Lives Matter,"** presented by Dr. Peniel E. Joseph.

Peniel E. Joseph is the Barbara Jordan Chair in Politics and Ethics at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and Professor of History at The University of Texas at Austin, where he’s also Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy. He is the author of the award winning *Waiting Til the Midnight Hour: A Narrative History of Black Power in America*, *Dark Days, Bright Nights: From Black Power to Barack Obama*, and *Stokely: A Life*. He is a frequent national commentator on issues of race, civil rights, and democracy and a contributing editor to The Root.com.
