Graduate Grants Announcement for summer 2015, and academic year 2015-16
The Charles Warren Center, Harvard's research center for North American history, awards grants to Ph.D. candidates at Harvard working on topics in American history. To be funded, a student must have passed the general examination, must be undertaking a project centered in American history, and be using a historical methodology.
Summer Travel Grant for Dissertation Research -- Grants are for the support of summer travel necessary for dissertation research . They are limited in number and require a letter of support from the dissertation adviser. The award amount is commensurate with the research budget, up to a maximum of $3,000. Term Time Research Grant -- Grants are semester-long awards to enable sustained dissertation research free from teaching responsibilities in the fall or spring term . Four to eight are awarded annually, to students G-6 or below during the award period. Grant provides a five-month stipend in an amount set annually by GSAS. The grant does not include tuition or fees for students through G-4 (when such charges are typically otherwise covered), but will cover such charges for G-5s and above. Access application here. Dissertation Completion Grant -- Grant is a ten-month award to enable dissertation completion free from teaching responsibilities for two semesters. Award is available to students with two completed chapters at the point of application, who will be G-5, G-6, or G-7 during the award period (G-8 in exceptional circumstances), and who have not previously held a completion fellowship from any other source. Grant provides a ten-month stipend in an amount set annually by GSAS. The grant will cover the facilities fee and health insurance charges. Access application from the Graduate School's website. Due to the recent increments weather, the deadline for all CWC grant applications has been extended from Friday, February 13 to Tuesday, February 17th. All applications must be received by 4:00pm on February 17th, 2015.
